Day 8

Hi all! We met with the social workers yesterday afternoon. It was the same two ladies we met with for Katie’s adoption. They seemed to remember us, or at least, during the first few questions, the interpreter mentioned our daughter was from Karaganda. They seemed to soften a little when asking about Katie – and they seemed really pleased when we shared some photos of her. They even said she looks like me (nothing could please me more!). Once they saw the photos, the questions ended and we left – about five minutes in all. They did ask if we would adopt more children, and while we said that we didn’t think so – the answer is NO! In theory, I am not totally opposed to having a houseful, but this will definitely be our last adventure to Kazakhstan!!

Will is a very active baby. He prefers to be on the go – crawling and exploring everything. I think we will have to re-babyproof the house. Katie was inquisitive, but I think Will is going to give us a run for our money. I think he will be into everything! We are over the hump for our required visits as this is Day 8. I keep fantasizing that we will get an early court date and get to come home sooner than 11/15, but this is probably just a pipe dream!

We spoke to Katie on the phone this morning, which is the best gift in the world. She sounds like she is having a super-great time, which is very comforting. I knew she would have a blast and be good as she is very adaptable – and she adores her aunt and uncle! We can never thank them enough for their loving care of our best girl!
