I probably should describe what our schedule will be for the next few weeks...I just thought that some of you might not know the drill. We first arrived in Almaty to meet with the sisters and take care of the paperwork. Almaty used to be the capital of Kazakhstan, so it is a very big city. Then we flew to Karaganda, where we have 14 days of visiting with Will (so when I say "Day 5" that means the 5th out of 14 visits with him), then we petition for court. It then takes about another 10 days to complete court and then we will come back to the US for about three weeks. There is a 15 day waiting period, so no sense in staying in Kazakhstan. I will fly back to pick up the baby and get his passport, paperwork, etc - it is a quick 6-7 day trip including travel. The timing is working out well this time. We will be home for Thanksgiving, then again for Chrstimas.
Each day is the same we are picked up at 9:45am and have our first visit from 10-12. We get him out of bed, feed him, change him and then play with him. Since the weather is still nice, we take him outside during every visit. From 12-2, we always go for lunch, then usually shop, or today, I am at the internet cafe. We just had lunch at a little local place (Russian home style food) named Cuba. Che is apparently their logo! We had chicken broth soup and dumplings with ground meat - they were delicious! We will stop for a few groceries, then go back for our second visit from 2-4, then home.

ReplyDeleteDave and Kelley -- we're always so excited to get an updated blog. Dave probably doesn't remember this but his great grandfather's name was Willis Basinger. Will is pretty close. Once again, small world. What a sweet boy=:) Diane and Jim
